Job Placement Digest

I build functional web apps that solve real business problems — fast, and without unnecessary complexity. As a front desk employee at a badminton business, I was trusted to design and ship a leaderboard and ELO ranking system after the team recognized my coding background and sales operations mindset. The business had a real problem: members weren’t showing up, and there was no way to gauge standing or give players something to chase. I built a best-of-3 tournament system with an ELO ranking (starting at 1000 points) using Netlify for hosting, Supabase for the database, and vanilla JavaScript in HTML — the two communicating directly. I prioritized functionality over polish, taking the system from idea to live in one week. Membership participation increased 30%. That project reflects how I work: solve the core problem efficiently first, then iterate with real user feedback — rather than spending hours polishing something before knowing if people actually want it. I use AI tools like Claude Code deliberately, as a way to move faster on the bits and pieces of a build without losing control of the architecture or outcome, rather than relying on all-in-one site generators. I’m currently a Master’s student in Business Analytics, and I’m targeting Software Engineer roles as my next step — full-time, or internships in the Winter cycle (January–May) as a fallback. From there, I’m building toward DevOps, where the same instincts — simple, functional systems, shipped and iterated fast — apply at the infrastructure level.
